Moving… Just the word is enough to raise a persons’ blood pressure. From begging for empty boxes at the grocery store to packing and realizing just how much stuff you actually have! Then finding a way to haul all of it, bribing your family and friends to help you by offering free pizza and beer. In this post, I’m going to share a few tips on how to make moving less stressful. I hope they help you with your next moving adventure!
How to make moving less stressful
When I moved from an apartment to a home, it was pretty stressful. I wasn’t sure exactly what I was getting into thinking I was going to have a lot more room but that doesn’t mean that all the items I was packing up weren’t going to take a lot of time. My number rule when moving is making sure that you make it a top priority because of many factors that can get in the way from when you begin to when you finish.
#1. Make packing and organizing a top priority
I started strong, but let things slide when I got busy with everything else going on in my life. This had a negative effect after we moved in. The last few weeks, we were pretty much just throwing things in boxes with no rhyme or reason. After we moved in, we unpacked all the essentials, but there were still unpacked boxes in our downstairs guest rooms up to 2 years after we had moved in. Obviously those items weren’t really that important if they sat in boxes for that long. I’m sure I could have found some extra pockets of time here and there to go through things more thoroughly and donate, sell, or throw out the items that I no longer needed. We wasted a lot of time, money, and space moving and storing all those items.

#2. Hire a moving company
This may not be in everyone’s budget, but looking back, the money we spent renting a U-Haul for 4 days and making the 30-mile drive from our old house to the new one numerous times, we probably could have spent just a little more and had a fraction of the stress. Moving Solutions is a company located in Tennessee that specializes in providing residential and commercial moving services as well as long distance moving, office moving, labor only and even the big heavy items such as pianos, couches, pool tables and hot tubs! Moving Solutions is your one stop shop to help you not only move but move efficiently and effectively.
#3. My last piece of advice is, don’t stress!
Everything will work out in the long run. Moving is a stressful time, but it’s also exciting. By taking one or all of my suggestions, I hope you can make your next move a more enjoyable experience. In hindsight, with everything else we had going on at the time, it would have been so worth it to spend a little extra money and create a whole lot less stress!
How to make moving less stressful conclusion
I’m sure there are many more moving tips that I haven’t mentioned but these are 3 that I think are the most important when you get started in the process. Hiring a quality company is key. Not stressing is another and making it a true priority from the day you begin to the day you’re moving out of your old place. This might mean that it takes time away from friends, activities and plans but you’ll be thanking yourself later when it’s done and over with.
